## How SizeCap works

Add your photos, choose a total size limit, and let SizeCap find settings that fit. It makes smaller JPEGs right in your browser. Files never leave this device.

1. **Add photos.** Choose JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, or AVIF photos, or drag them onto the page.
2. **Choose a total size.** Enter a limit in MB or KB. It applies to all your photos together.
3. **Save your smaller photos.** Check the result, then download your JPEGs one by one or together in a ZIP file.

### Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser does the compression on your device. Your photos are never sent to a server.

### Which file types can I compress?

You can use JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF. Every file is saved as JPEG. Transparent areas become white, and animated GIFs use only the first frame.

### Is the limit for each photo or all of them?

All of them together. For example, a 5 MB limit means your JPEGs can take up to 5 MB in total. SizeCap uses the same quality and resizing settings for every photo. If it cannot make them small enough, you’ll see a warning.

### Do I need to install an app?

No. Just open SizeCap in your browser and add your photos. It’s free to use, with no account needed.

### When is SizeCap the right tool?

Use it when several photos must fit one combined size limit, or when you want the compression to stay on your device. Typical compressors shrink each file on its own. SizeCap uses the same quality and scale for every photo so the JPEGs add up to your cap.
