Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser does the compression on your device. Your photos are never sent to a server. After this page loads, you can turn off the internet and still compress.
Which file types can I compress?
You can use JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF. Every file is saved as JPEG. Transparent areas become white, and animated GIFs use only the first frame.
Is the limit for each photo or all of them?
All of them together. For example, a 5 MB limit means your JPEGs can take up to 5 MB in total. SizeCap uses the same quality and resizing settings for every photo. If it cannot make them small enough, you’ll see a warning.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Just open SizeCap in your browser and add your photos. It’s free to use, with no account needed.
When is SizeCap the right tool?
Use it when a form rejected a photo for being too large, when several photos must fit one combined size limit, or when you want the compression to stay on your device. Typical compressors shrink each file on its own. SizeCap uses the same quality and scale for every photo so the JPEGs add up to your cap.
How can I check that my files are not uploaded?
After this page loads, turn off Wi-Fi or use airplane mode. Add files and compress. SizeCap still works because the work happens in this tab. When you are online, the website may still load fonts or measure visits, but those requests do not include your files.
A form says my photo is too large. Can I fix that here?
Yes. Read the size on that website, set that number here, and save the JPEG. SizeCap is for the size problem: one file over a kilobyte or megabyte limit, or several files that share one remaining budget. It will not crop a passport photo, replace a background, or open HEIC. Tax notices and ID scans stay on this device.
Does SizeCap cost anything?
