Get a photo small enough for a form
If a form says your photo is too large, add just that photo to SizeCap and choose the size you need in KB. The limit will apply to that one image.
You can start with JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, or AVIF. SizeCap saves the result as a JPEG.
For a form with a 200 KB limit
- Add your photo.
- Change the unit to KB and enter 190 to leave a little room below the limit.
- Click “Compress to size cap” and check the result. You’ll see a warning if it’s still too large.
- Save the JPEG and open it before adding it to your form.
Why 190 instead of 200? Websites don’t always count KB the same way. SizeCap’s 200 KB is 204,800 bytes, which is too large for a form that allows only 200,000 bytes. Setting 190 KB gives you a little breathing room.
Check the photo still looks right
Making a photo smaller can soften details and reduce its dimensions. Make sure faces, lettering, and anything else that matters are still clear. Keep the original in case you want to try a different limit.
A form may also ask for exact dimensions, a particular crop, or a certain background. You’ll need to check those separately. SizeCap changes transparent areas to white and keeps only the first frame of an animated GIF. It can’t open HEIC, PDF, SVG, TIFF, or RAW files.
Still too large?
Some limits are too small for the tool to reach. If you see a warning, the downloaded photo will still be over your limit. Try a higher limit if the form allows it, or crop the original in an image editor before trying again.
For several photos that each need to stay under a limit, work on them one at a time. Adding them together gives them one shared total limit.
